Policies and Consequences
YOU WILL RECEIVE A WORK ETHICS GRADE OF 100 ON THE LAST DAY OF EACH MONTH IF NONE OF THESE POLICIES ARE VIOLATED.
1. Be prepared for class each day. Bring textbook and/or other needed supplies. If you
have to ask Mr. Lumpkin for a pen, paper, etc., you will not receive your work ethics grade of 100 on the last day of the month.
2. Be on time to class. Refer to the school handbook for rules and consequences that
pertain to tardies. One tardy will forfeit your 100 work ethics grade.
3. Always be present. You cannot learn at home. You will miss some valuable instruction
if you are absent. Remember that you are responsible to find out what you missed if you are absent. You will be given (3) days in which to make up your missed work. (If you are absent 2-3 consecutive days, an extension may be given.) If you are absent the day of an announced test, the test must be taken on the day after the first day you return. An absence due to ISS or OSS will cause you to lose your work ethics score of 100 for the month.
4. Be courteous and thoughtful. Do not interrupt the teacher when instruction is going
on with unnecessary talking. A raised hand will be recognized and help will be on
the way as soon as possible. Do not bother anything that is not yours- -includes
anything in or on the teacher’s desk and other students’ desks. When announcements
or a message comes over the intercom, get quiet. It may be of importance to you.
Offense and Consequence
It is totally up to my discretion to determine the consequence that will go along
with the type of offense that is committed. You will be sent to the office if I think
the offense is severe enough, and you are constantly exemplifying disruptive
behavior.
Minor or major disciplinary problems (including warnings) will forfeit your
work ethics grade of 100.
5. Be punctual in turning in assignments. I will only take late papers the day after an assignment is due. If you choose to turn in a paper on that second day, you will receive a twenty point deduction. If you have a late paper and miss that second day after an assignment is due, you will receive a 0 because it should have been completed by the due date. You may only turn in papers when your class is in session – not in between classes or after school. You will not get a monthly work ethics grade of 100 if you fail to turn in one or more assignments during the month.
6. Take responsibility for the equipment in the classroom, the textbooks you will use in
the class, the disks that you will use for the computer, and for your work station.
Leave your work area clean. Trash goes into the trash can. If you violate this policy,
you will lose points from your work ethics grade.
7. No eating, drinking, or chewing gum in the classroom.
8. Students will not play any games on the computers without the permission of the teacher
or go to any Web site that is not related to a class assignment. If you break this policy or
the School Technology and Internet Use policy you will be written up and lose your
100 Work Ethics score.
9. Cheating Policy - You will be given an automatic 0 if you are caught sharing (providing
or receiving) information with another student.
10. Students do not have permission to use any electronic device during class including
cell phones and iPods. You will be written up and lose points from your work
ethics score if you violate this policy.
